Advanced

As life-long boaters ourselves, we continue to find ways to strengthen our own skills, and believe that we always have more to learn.  Progress at an Advanced level arises from a variety of related components:

Physical fitness:  any kind of cardiovascular endurance workouts, attainment workouts up the river, Cheat Race Training.
Skill development:  practice on the gates at the Brookmont Feeder Canal, advanced slalom stroke workouts.
Whitewater challenge:  trying to accomplish the eddies and gates at Dickerson. Dickerson Workouts and the Blue Card Test.
Experience and development of river judgment:  paddling West Virginia rivers, scouting and running rapids. Trips outside of the DC area are available with 'Beyond Liquid Adventures'.
Advanced swiftwater rescue and safety training:  develop understanding of hazards, prepare yourself to react appropriately, and build your confidence in the face on danger.

We invite you to join our advanced program, and challenge yourself in some of the toughest white water environments.  Our clinics and workouts are designed to build your skills and judgment so that you are confident in Class IV.
