Season 2007 - 2008

waiver form | health form | youth parent permission | equipment list | boat list

Thank you for your deposit and your commitment to paddle with us in Mexico this Winter. We will soon be driving South of the Border, getting ready to meet you at the airport in Mexico City and to introduce you to a variety of beautiful rivers. This should put some excitement and outdoor adventure into your Winter.

Probably the most important preparation for everyone, in order to make the most out of your experience in Mexico, is to be in good condition—upper body and lower body, heart and lungs.
Secondly, you do not want to be held back because you don’t have the right equipment. Please review the enclosed equipment list. We would be interested to hear any additions or variations that you may have. Thirdly, you want to begin your Mexican experience—by bringing your documentation, getting your shots, and learning a few words of the language.
You should be up to date on Tetanus, Typhoid, and Hepatitis A. For the Oaxaca and Chiapas trips, you may also be advised by your health adviser to take Malaria pills. Each person should have bug repellent to deter evening mosquitoes. Please check with the Center for Disease Control website and you health provider.

American citizens do not need visas to enter Mexico; a solid proof of citizenship will be accepted, i.e.,passport, or birth certificate original.   You will be asked at the border to obtain a tourist card which should be carried with you at all times while in Mexico. Minors (under 18) will need notarized affidavits signed by both parents, giving permission to travel to Mexico.

You should make your flight arrangements as soon as possible, to arrive close to Noon on the first day of the trip, and to return in the afternoon of the last day. In most cases we will meet you at the airport, and we will travel with you by bus to Puebla. If you are having trouble finding a flight, you might try a day that doesn’t fall on a weekend. Try Monday and stay an extra day. It may be more economical. For questons and help with flights call or email us. When you receive confirmation reservations, please send us a copy of your flight itinerary.

We can provide you with a cruising-type boat. If we have not yet discussed the boat for you, please read the list of boats (link above) available and let us know your first and second and third choices. If you are a Beginner and are not certain as to what boat would be suitable, please consult us about which boat will be appropriate.

The orientation on and off the river is toward enjoying the outdoor environment, improving whitewater skills, and getting a taste of real Mexican culture.

Please refer to the links above for necessary forms and information sheets.

Hasta Pronto en Mexico,
